Trauma Embodied Yoga (TEY) Teacher Training is a collaboration between Aneta Idczak and Kerry Morgan, two experienced yoga teachers and therapists who came together as founders for Trauma Embodied Yoga modular training. 


TEY was founded upon a collaborative observation regarding the need for more advanced training for the integration of the students displaying of trauma and its associated symptoms. We are offering Level 1 generic training with further Level 2 specifically designed to raise awareness and practical skills of working with trauma related groups.

This specialist training brings together a theoretical understanding of trauma in a multidisciplinary way. This is further enhanced with two Senior Yoga Teacher and Trainers who deliver this training: Aneta Idczak and Kerry Morgan, who have worked experientially with Trauma and its related symptoms collectively for 35 years.


This course is for you if you want to: 

  • Enhance your awareness of trauma and its associated symptoms 
  • Raise your understanding of trauma and how it presents in your yoga students
  • Be fully equipped as a  yoga teacher with understanding of Trauma Embodied yoga practices including asana, pranayama, mindfulness and compassionate practices.
  • Be able to fully integrate other practices such as Yoga Nidra and mantra in a class environment.
  • Learn how to create a safe space for participants with trauma or trauma related symptoms ie: anxiety, depression and disassociation, to provide a safe and inclusive environment to all you class participants 


At the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Understand what trauma is
  • Understand Neurobiology of Trauma, Stress Response and Polyvagal theory
  • Understand responses to trauma: depression, anxiety, PTSD, disassociation
  • Understand Attachment theory and how early attachments affect our behaviours
  • Understand triggers to trauma
  • Recognise when a student is exhibiting symptoms relating to trauma
  • Understand how to create a sense of safety with compassion and without prejudice with consent, appropriate language and interactions as well as clear boundaries
  • Understand and use safe Trauma Embodied Yoga principles when working with yoga students
  • Understand how to cultivate compassionate Presence and integration as self-care


Total Number of Hours on Course: 62 hours – 32 Contact hours + additional non-contact 30 hours for homework, research and assignment. Includes online component as additional support.

At the end of the course you will have:

  1. Advanced your understanding of trauma and their own experience of it when working with students.
  2. Learnt how to create an inner sense of safety for your students as well as you as a yoga teachers
  3. Experienced Trauma Embodied Yoga sessions and other practices supportive of working with trauma and trauma symptoms 


Entry requirements:

This specialist 4 day training is for all yoga teachers with a minimum of 200 Hrs certification + 1 year teaching experience who want to advance their understanding of trauma and teaching practice and apply Trauma Embodied Yoga practices in their teaching in order to create more inclusive and accessible yoga in their communities.
